Clean powder?

After about 250 rds today through my P97, I took it home and cleaned it. I did no cleaning during but it was spotless to begin with. I ended up with a thick caked on "grease" All around the firing pin, extractor, trigger, and other internals. Not to mention the muzzle was black instead of steel. This "grease" seemed like a lot of unburnt powder, which was also all over my shirt and face. I use IMR 4227 and AA#9. The IMR Powder was from the .44mag I was also shooting. The AA was what I used in the 45 acp loads (the 250 rounds). I am guessing the "grease" is the AA (being that it is a fine powder). I reason i believe is this because the 4227 appears in most of the same spots and it is more easily identified. Anyway I just wanted to know if there was a cleaner burning powder out there. I was told to try Lil' Gun and AA#7 and Titegroup. Any other ideas?
