In that case I would suggest a simple XD9 service. I have big hands and mine feels very good, the grip is about the same size as my 1911 commander. I have nearly 10,000 rounds through mine and can't remember the last time it malfunctioned. It's still my favorite gun to shoot. Recoil is very manageable despite the lightweight polymer frame.
