Unless you're shooting at stationary targets - the front sight is useless .... ( and you might be for deer, turkey, etc )...

but for moving targets - game birds, clay targets, etc - you should never look at the front sight ( or you will stop your swing ) ....and probably be behind everything you are shooting at. Sights on shotguns - at barrel end and mid-rib for moving targets are only to make sure you have the rib of the gun aligned properly / and that your mount is consistent - as you mount the gun / then forget it .
