buying processed 5.56 brass?

Is there any way to tell if the once fired processed 5.56 brass is really once fired ? I bought 250 5.56 cases that he said are once fired and processed with the crimp removed, trimmed and ready to load. I loaded 25 of them with a 55 gr bullet and 24.0 gr of H335 powder which is not a hot load and out of the 25, the neck split on 11 of them the first time I fired them. If they were once fired why would so many necks split ? Is the only way to tell once fired is if they still have the crimped in primer ?
