When you mentioned weird front sights and bayonet lugs, the first thing to come to mind is that they may be Finn model 27 or 28. Without more information about markings on the receiver and barrel, or pictures, it's kinda hard to tell.
Google images for those two model numbers and see if the pictures look like what you have.
