Sorry, but Proofhouse.com says Winchester Model 1906 production ended in 1935 at serial number 708284, but I know a smattering of rifles were produced after that with leftover parts.

If it were a Winchester Model 1890, that date would put it squarely in the 1930 production range.

So either your great uncle died after you think he did, your rifle is actually a Model 1890, or that rifle came from somewhere else.
