Sounds to me like a guy who didn't have what you were looking for, and wanted to "dump" you into something he had in stock. The fact that he decided to try to "trash talk" you out of the gun you were looking for, rather than trying to locate 1 for you, should really tell you all you need to know about him.
If it were me, I would find another place to spend my hard earned money!
