Shorts, and longs will shoot safely, but consider the gun a single shot as it will probably not cycle them. You will probably also have to give the chamber a good cleaning after or you may have trouble getting LR ammo to chamber if a lot of the shorter ammo is used.

Some of the hyper velocity ammo uses a slightly longer case, but a lighter, shorter bullet so the overall length is the same. Some guns with sloppy chambers will shoot these just fine, others with closer tolerences will not shoot them, and you should check the owners manual. Chamber pressure could be higher than normal, but I seriously doubt it could be enough to create a dangerous situation.
