If you like doing it, go ahead. Personally, I don't think its really "necessary" because in your home during the day is the least likely place you're going to be assaulted.
But again, I'm not one of those people who think carrying a gun is dangerous so if you want to carry it inside your home then by all means go ahead, but don't feel obligated to.
