mossberg is best known for their shotguns. rifles are a different story. I know mossberg lever actions have never been held in high regard, perhaps less regard than rossi. they exacerbated the problem when they started throwing tri rails and M4 stocks on them and adding chainsaw wrap around grips to their shotguns so they can be fired from the hip...

most people now look at mossberg as being highly impractical and mediocre at best. however their new MVP bolt actions get pretty good reviews from most of the members here that own them. a bolt action that takes AR15 mags sounds like a really fun rifle but I just haven't found the time or money to try one for myself. on that note however, even those have seemed lacking in the fit/finish regard when I've handled them in the shop. the bolts are loose and sloppy and the wood feels cheap and poorly done. do I doubt any of the reports about good accuracy and reliability? no I like to give everyone the benefit of the doub but it seems that mossberg is content just to prey on the mall ninjas that want evil black lever actions and surf on the wave of money from the M500 contracts with the military.
