I don't see a lot of choices. You can't know what the BG will do, you're not a mind reader. He'd have to be one desperate SOB to shoot you with a cop holding you both at gunpoint. You certainly aren't going to fire your own weapon without getting killed by the officer. If the BG fires he will be killed by the officer.

Follow instructions from the officer. It's your highest percentage chance.
