Certainly a "controlled triple." I have seen top shooters do a Failure Drill (Mozambique) so fast and smooth that I could not hear the transition from CoM to headbox. So surely you can put three to CoM rapidly and consistently.
That said, I have seen people so locked into the double tap that the double + single is obvious. Doesn't mean it is "efficient".
