I wasn't worried about dry firing because they kept a trigger lock on it that they didn't even have the key for. They needed to use a screw driver to get the thing off (not a very good trigger lock).

I'm pretty broke these days so under $150 at WalMart, or even $160-180 at Sports Authority, Bass Pro Shop or Dick's Sporting Goods will make the difference versus $200+ at the gun shop (a couple around here won't even carry the 10/22 because the big stores sell them for less than what the gun shop pays to get it). However, I'll stick with Bass Pro Shop, Dick's and Sports Authority (in that order) for these kinds of guns from now on- the salespeople are more knowlegable and they sell more guns so I wouldn't get one that probably spent 2-3 years on their shelves.
