You could end up with consecutive numbers, but it takes commitment.
When I bought my .44 Marshalls I called Cabelas and talked to the "Gun Guy" in customer support and made a specific demand.
It didn't hurt to use a little blackmail (the Cust.service guy approved & even helped the ruse) by insisting on my requirement of consecutive numbers, otherwise I would change my order and only buy one.
It worked for me. But once they were also able to review my purchase history they really didn't mind accommodating me.
About the '62 Police, the first one I was sent had to go back because I wasn't going to accept (and then have to fix) a brand new gun with timing problems. The next one was perfect in that respect.
