I have the Alaskan in 454 and love it. Jeff must have been shooting some really hot loads. The reason I went with the 454 is it gave me a much wider range to choose from; the light 45 cowboy action loads, 45 hot loads that are near equal to the 44 mag, then the hotter than hell 454 full power loads. Don't get me wrong, if you put 454 shells in it, everyone on the range will stop and look after your first shot. Corbon has some excellent 45 and 454 rounds if you want to go factory.
