To get back to the question the original poster asked"What can and can't a .38 cal do?". It can't fire a 44 sp

l. It can stop a man as well as any other round if the shooter does his job

. More rounds down range does not insure more good hits unless as a shooter you do your job

. Sight picture, breath control,trigger control.
