I owned a Norinco 1911A1 for a couple years. It worked perfectly with anything I tried...JHP or FMJ. The OEM mag worked great, also.
My favorite aftermarket mags were made by Checkmate. They have a model with hybrid mag lips, extra power spring, and their proprietary follower...7rd.
They feed anything, and are reasonably priced.
