From the SASS Firearms Covenants in the Shooter's Manual:

“'John Wayne' style levers may be substituted on rifles for the standard factory lever."

Although the Henry Big Boy is not a replica of anything manufactured in the 19th Century, the SASS rules contain a specific provision allowing its use (except in the Classic Cowboy category).

So, you COULD use a big looped Henry Big Boy in a SASS match (assuming of course that you were not shooting in Classic Cowboy). The large lever, however, would be a competitive disadvantage. All that extra room space in the lever would make it slower to operate.

Still having the fastest time is not the only measure of how much fun you have shooting in a cowboy match.
