What do you want it for?
Reason I ask is because the guns you mention, a P11 and a 1911, are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Just for carry: get the P11.
For (less convenient) carry and general purpose use: get the 1911.
I carry both.
The Springfield Mil-Spec is a good suggestion. You also have Charles Daly and Rock Island Armory selling budget-priced 1911s, but at that price point, you're close to a higher quality Springer anyway.
