I still think the AR 10 would be good out to 1000. Semi autos can be less accurate, but also can be pretty close. I would expect the gun would very well shoot 1 moa or less with good ammo. That's 10in at 1000yds, more than enough.

I would say, get the rifle set up. see how accurate it is. If it is holding around 1MOA or better, I would upgrade the mount and glass.

Granted the Tikka might be a better gun. but the AR should do it with minimal problems.
