Rifletom is 100% correct about the 270 and elk. (On about everything else too.)

I am on the 3rd barrel in one of my 270s. I have killed deer, elk, antelope, bear, horses, cattle and sheep with a 270 and I have probably see about 3X more game killed with 270s than I have personally killed in my years of guiding hunters. I have seen 2 moose killed with a 270. And one bull buffalo, killed by this man.

You have a GREAT rifle in a GREAT caliber. Use good bullets that don't come apart on impact, and you will never look back.
