The standard lenth barrel (22 in,) is legal in HP servicer rifle matche.

The 22 in barrel has a longer sight radius, making for better shooting.

The 22 in barrel, using standard loads (42 grns 4895, 150 - 175 grain bullets) has no detectable muzzle flash at night.

I don't by the 18' shooter barrel being more accuate because its more ridged line of thinking. Match shooters, even when not hampered by Service Rifle Match Rules use the standard lenth (22 inch) barrel. If the 18 inch barrel was more accurate, whouldnt the army have used it in the M21 platform?
