More likely what we used to call "barrel wear", marks picked up from bouncing around in a barrel. They look like they might have been made by the edge of a slide where the cocking striations are, maybe on a P.38 or a Radom.
(Yes, a symbol of six dead Nazis would be more romantic, but the idea of notching grips has been much overplayed.)
