I have noticed in AR-15 lower receivers that the inside wall of the receiver is thicker around the area of where the full auto sear would be placed. If one was to break the rules and drill a hole for the sear.

Yes, this would be breaking "the rules". You are actually talking about breaking the law and commiting a FELONY with the penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine. A single felony conviction would also result in the loss of your rights to own or possess any type of firearm.
