I was almost surprised to hear that they still have an in-house forge, rather than buying forged blanks off-shore
According to Brent Turchi, manager of the Colt Custom Shop and Customer Service shop, Colt buys it's raw forgings from a nearby American forge.
What Colt gets are raw forgings from which they do all machining.
The forging is done using Colt supplied dies and to Colt specifications.
