Due to limited funds in my young years, my dad wasn't able to get me a gun for me until I was around 12. I used what he had, mostly a 10/22 and used it for rabbits and squirrel, killed a small doe with it once, she walked right under my stand while I was squirrel hunting... Popped her in the back of the head, never took another step.

I fully intend on outfitting my kids with their own guns. Obviously starting them out with BB guns and the like, moving from there to .22's, on to .223's and then probably to a .243 or .260...

Is a 8-32x60mm scope too much for a Red Ryder?
