What 6.5x55 Rifle?

I'm thinking about a new deer rifle this year and I want to try the 6.5x55 caliber as I've always read and heard great things about it. The dilemma is whether to buy a whole new production rifle line the CZ 550 or to "re-purpose" an old Yugo M48 that I did a custom build on in .308.

I can get the CZ for about $650ish without glass.

The Mauser will need a new barrel chambered in 6.5x55 and a new sporter stock since the one that's on the gun now is a benchrest stock. If I go with a stainless barrel, I can save money on having the barreled action reblued. My gunsmith is very reasonable in his pricing and I think this route will be cheaper. Something makes me feel like I'd appreciate this option more than a production rifle. But I don't know.

Appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
