Prices vary a lot by region of the country ...and how many are around, in your area, right now....
I've seen some model 66's ( excellent condition ) not 80% - 90% guns ...go as high as $ 700....it just depends....

But $ 500 - $ 600 is probably as good a range as you can advise him ....now he'll just need to shop, and see what he can find locally...
