If your clay target experience has been at Kenmore or Granite Falls, or any other club that doesn't have a Skeet field, I'm not surprised they don't use/sell #9s. If you want to try some Skeet, my friend, BigJimP is in your corner of the world and I'm sure he'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

If you were evaluating a field round for 40-yard performance I'd concur. But, with target ammo patterning needs to be done with the appropriate choke at the anticipated target distance. Next time you're patterning, try some #9s with a Skeet choke at about 25-yards.
