The Thumler uses standard 1/4"-20 threads. Washers are standard 1/4"-20 cut washers and are trivial in cost, so buy a bunch of extras. I replaced the wing nuts on mine (I loathe wing nuts) with some tripod thumb wheels (I'm a hobbyist photographer) that tighten better and don't want to cut into my thumbs, and recommend you do the same if you have them.
