It's essentially a twin of the .30-378 Wby magnum, with all that entails - extremely high velocities, ultra-short barrel lives (assuming full power loads), and way, way, way expensive and hard to find brass and factory loaded ammo. It's really difficult to rationally identify a "need" for this cartridge in field use in North America, save for the "gotta have it" factor (which none of us is immune to, btw).
edit: oops...sorry..you've already got the RUM, which means you're no doubt acutely aware of what I typed above. What you'll get with the .300 Win Mag is more sedate velocities, but longer barrel life, and much wider assortment of factory loadings at more reasonable prices, as well as cheaper and plentiful brass should you roll your own.
