Most of these beauties shoot just fine right out of the box ... or maybe right out of storage is a better way to phrase it. You also can adjust the front sights. If you go to the "tech info" area on the P38 Forum, it explains the process. Here's a link:

The P1 is a joy to shoot, it's affordable, it easily obtainable, and you don't have to worry about ruining a potential heirloom when you take it to the range. You can get "minty" examples from Dan Tobin at Dan's Ammo for under $300 with a holster, extra mag, cleaning kit, etc. Best of all is the P5, which is the ultimate expression of the original P38's internal organs. SOG has them for well under $500, hand-picked and shipped to your FFL dealer.
