I had a .270 (Rem 700 Classic) and loved it.
It shot well.
Long story, but I now have a .270WSM (Win 70).
After experimenting through quite a few load combinations, it now shoots awesome.
Look at the ballistics and compare to what you have.
See if it fits your needs.

Despite killing many elk with that old .270....I know that if I still had it, as well as my current .270WSM.....the old .270 would be the one that got left at home for an Elk hunt.
