I have experienced the same problem with Remington slug sights and this was the open sight replacement solution that worked for me:

TFX Pro- Remington sight. Patridge sight picture and low light illumination. Easy replacement for factory open sights.

The rear sight is sufficiently wide for a quick sight picture with a postiive index of elevation.
