No idea about any of that other stuff, I couldn't get past the flag. The s is a non issue, it was called a long s as opposed to the short s and was influenced by French, German and Latin usage. The English dropped it before we did, we dropped it about 1810 give or take a few years. They commissioned an artist who had absolutely zero qualifications to do a work of this kind and the people who commissioned it were as ignorant as the artist was. A sad commentary on our public school system.
