I totally understand your point, a newbie should probably stay away from Taurus. But your friend that keeps sending guns back to Taurus may be helping them improve QA. And if they improve, more competition helps us all.

I can only speak about the PT92 (I had one but sold it) and the PT1911. As a buyer, Taurus seems to be a pretty decent value.

I understand that some people dislike Taurus because of some issues, but let's not throw out the baby with the bath water. My PT1911, in my opinion, (after my fix) is a better pistol than my Colt or Springfield and they cost 50-100% more.
