And I think that's the salient point to be made in the discussion regarding "design".
Design in my estimation has to do with the basic functioning properties of the pistol. Different configurations relating to slide releases, magwells, mag releases, slide serrations and such are merely cosmetic and/or enhanced handling bells and whistles that have nothing to do with design in the strictest sense.
