Federal uses Sierra Matchking bullets. I use mostly 4895 for powder 'cause I got so much of it.
I have gotten excellent results with 168gr. Matchkings and 173 gr. DCM bullets in my .308.
I generally buy the Fed.Gold Medal stuff for plinking and to get fire - formed cases to reload with collet dies for the serious medicine. Also, seat bullet so it barely contacts rifling. You'll have to play with the powder charge by 1/10 ths. of a grain to find your rifle's favorite food.
I haven't had any success with the Nosler bullets (not quite 1 MOA) but it might be that my rifle just doesn't like 'em.
My baby is a Rem. 700 VSF in .308 that ain't quite "straight off the shelf".
Why reload if you're just going to duplicate factory ? You can tune the cartridge to match your rifle exactly.
Happy Shooting, Butch
