The Rear Padded piece has two nice features. It has 6 pals colums that are 7 rows tall. This allows for mounting additional pouches such as a hydration bladder. Should you decide to run a non-EssTac hydration carrier I would recommend running two rows of small malice clips. One row at the very top and one just under where the first two ends (ie: start it on the third row of pals). This will reduce the amount of side to side sway in the bladder pouch. You should also make sure that the bladder pouch you buy has a hanging tab (see other hydration pouch reviews on this site). The second feature is a drag handle. The drag handle is constructed from 2 inch webbing and is tacked down in at least 5 locations on each side.
