I think that most of the negative flap about the mini 14 is concerning the "old" style. They had accuracy problems according to some, plus in days of yore you couldn't get 20 or 30 round mags. Things have changed niow with the retooling on the mini (ranch Rifle), heavier tapered barrel, and availibility of normal 20 and 30 round magazines from Ruger.
