My friend is leaving a Winchester 1873 to my son. We currently have it at the gunsmiths having the mainspring replaced and getting the gun cleaned up. That means just cleaning the moving parts. No refinishing. This gun is a keeper. We have no intension on selling it. Just wondering if anyone here can give me some advice on the serial number. And to those of you who have dealt with the Cody Museum. What infromation do they send out. I know the fee is $65. Just wondering what you get for it.
