Many thanks for the warm welcome. The two rifles were indeed sweet shooters. One was integrally suppressed, the other had a traditional screw-on silencer and a side-folding stock. Unfortunately, both were dealer samples and thus verboten for us mere mortals (again, blasted Hughes Amendment!
). Transferable full-auto 10/22s do exist in the wild, though, and as Willie Lowman pointed out above they are around $10,000. I wish I was kidding about that price
On a side note, I never knew until yesterday that 10/22 machine guns fire from an open bolt. I felt rather silly trying to chamber a round and being unable to do so until this fact was kindly pointed out to me by the owner.
