As an aside,
of course ballistic testing is important. Without it, we would not have the reliably expanding projectiles we have today.
For those who don't subscribe to ballistic testing; how do you propose that bullet penetration and expansion be tested?
There is a great body of
scientific work on bullet performance and it has been
absolutely proven, that the aggregate penetration and expansion between bare ballistic gelatin and gelatin covered by 4-layers of denim, closely mimics actual living tissue shooting results.
Why Four Layers of Denim Cloth?
Go to
Winchester Law Enforcement Ammunition web site, you will find that they use the FBI and IWBA test protocol. Through that testing they were able to develop their outstanding Ranger-T line.
Science is our friend.
