If you want a .243 in AR-15, look at the 6.8 SPC. The ballistics are very similar, and you can keep the more compact and lighter AR-15 package. To be fair and to avoid a thread derailment, yes, the 6.5 Grendel would fill the same niche as well. They're all in that medium weight bullet, ~2900fps range.
