Hey guys. I followed the link to try and decipher my dad's .38 S&W ctg but couldn't make heads or tails of it.

I was hoping to see if any of you could help. The serial number on the butt is 591827 with 3994 written below it. I don't have the gun at this time so I couldn't tell you if there is a number when the cylinder is open. Thanks for any help
