I once went out on a night patrol last December as a gunner wearing only my body armor, helmet, regular uniform, and flight gloves. It was about 35 degrees or so and I was up exposed to the wind. Sure, I wasn't happy, but I wasn't hypothermic, either. It was a really cold night, though; all of the Iraqi Police officers who were supposed to be out manning checkpoints had gone home to stay warm.
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” - Samuel Adams
