I have been struggling with this for decades. The only gun I have consistently carried is the P7M8. However, the Kahr PM9 is probably the best CC handgun available. It is ultra-compact, lightweight, chambered in a serious caliber and can be shot well with practice.
It is true that Kahr's QC has been spotty. But frankly, so has just about everyone else's.
