Years ago I had a Remmington 700 ADL in 270 that I used the "long throat" method for seating bullets.
I now have an older [pre MARK-II] Ruger 77 in 30-06 that has your short chamber. It shoots a 1/4 inch group,seated at the canalure. I don't worry about it.
