In my Bobcat, I shoot .015 lubed patches and .490 round ball. I check my patches often to see how they are doing and mine are holding. Mine loads just fine with this shot string and in part, may be due to the seasoning. Some new rifles will also cut patches just like rough bores. I have a newer Lyman with shallow rifling and it cuts thin patches. The problem is not the thickness as much as the sharp rifling.
