Used in the Ruger Old Army. But some muzzle loading rifles use them also. Keep in mind, older rifles and some custom made barrels do not have exactly the same bore size as some factory made ones. I use patched .457s in a Douglas barrel on a target ml rifle that is nominally called a .45 cal. Tight fit but accurate.
